Drywall, or sheet rock, is the surface of choice for interior walls and ceilings. Depending on your building code, required by the city, either 1/2 inch or 5/8 inch thick panels are required as a fire barrier. These sheets come in four feet wide and either eight or twelve feet long in dimension. It is installed using either hammer and nails or by screws. Since the onset of screw guns and their application in the installation of sheet rock time of the install is reduced.

To provide a smooth surface the joints are filled with drywall mud and either fiberglass or paper tape is used to make a monolythic surface. Additionally the surface can be textured in various different styles.
